CECIL THE LION IS SHOT FOR TROPHY; TRAGIC END TO THIS MAGNIFICENT LION'S LIFE

Early in July, Zimbabwe's best known lion - Cecil - was shot and killed by a trophy hunter in Hwange National Park. It is believed that the trophy hunter was Spanish, with reports detailing the hunt as being illegal. According to such reports, which amount from an investigation being done by a hunter's association, Cecil had wandered from the land of Wilderness Safaris across an invisible boundary which leads into hunting territory. Some reports claim that the hunting company knew who Cecil was but allowed the hunt anyway. Rumors, which we cannot confirm. The investigation is still under way as of last week (and it is now July 20th).

Some reports and rumors state that the Spanish trophy hunter is outraged that he shot a lion not meant for hunting, nor supposed to have been shot. Is it a consolation that the trophy hunter is upset about the death? Not really. He still would have killed a lion for trophy regardless.

You can help honor the King of Hwange by ordering a digital or print version of a photograph of Cecil. Visit this link for more details: Honouring the King of Hwange
